History:

Born into a third-class family, Tatesuke was raised by his mother, struggling to make ends meet on a single income to support up her young son and good-for-nothing father. Very often, his father would return home after staying out the entire day and night at bars in a drunken state, quarreling with his mother and demanding money to fuel his alcohol addiction. The young Tatesuke saw everything with the Neuro Linker his mother bought to take care of him while she worked hard seven days a week. In that empty house, Tatesuke would study hard with one wish: to escape the poverty cycle, and enlist in the military. He would be guaranteed a good salary, pensions, and more importantly a home that he would then make into a happy household.

One evening, the quarrel turned violent. Tatesuke's father, angered again that there was no money for beer, finally decided to settle things with fists. The young Tatesuke watched, completely terrified from a corner of the kitchen.

"Something has to be done! Something must be done!"

Remembering the Neuro Linker around his neck, with trembling finger he dialed the emergency services button. But when the call connected...his mind went blank.

At that moment, his father grabbed a kitchen knife-- and slashed his mother deeply. The glint of steel and blood burned into his eyes.

There is no better time to act- than NOW!!

"...NOOO!!"

Bursting out in a fit, Tatesuke stood up and screamed at his father at last. The older man was stunned for a moment, then fired back:

"This is none of your business, kid. Fuck off."

"IT- ABSOLUTELY- IS!!"

The nine-year old boy bravely tried to slap his father, only to have his wrist caught, and was quickly twisted into an armlock. His mother, bravely holding back her tears, begged her husband to simply leave.

I acted...didn't I? That's all that matters.

The elder Ichijo didn't bother them afterwards, not even for more beer money. And yet, Tatesuke always carried a feeling that this would never end, that someday he or his mother would be harmed. Between his studies, Tatesuke developed an obsession with being physically fit; he joined his school's Track and Field club, and in his spare time headed to the gym. Riding his puberty, Tatesuke soon became one of the tallest and strongest boys in his class.

During his school's Cultural Festival, Tatesuke attended the kendo team's Intra-school tournament. Seeing the well-trained kendokas expertly wield their swords, Tatesuke was impressed and looked at the scoreboard's top-ranked name:

壷井遼太郎 - Ryoutarou Tsuboi

A tiny spark lit up in his heart. I want to be as strong as that guy...

After the tournament, he approached said champion, asking him politely how had he trained to be that good. Scratching his head, Ryoutarou considered for a moment, then answered:

"A program called Brain Burst."

"Brain...Burst? Tsuboi-san, what kind of training aid is that? How does it help you?"

"Eh he he...it's easier if you see it for yourself. It's like a game, but you don't play it - you live it."

With that, the two boys Direct Connected upon the Tatesuke's insistence. Ryoutarou then gave him the program.

That night, Tatesuke was once again facing his parent's fatal quarrel. At the edge of despair, waiting on a call that seemed to be unable to reach him from far away, all of Tatesuke's feelings condensed into a thought:

Mum and Dad fight because of me. She supports me.

But no one else should have to suffer for me. Not Mum, not Dad, not anyone!!

No one else has to get hurt, so stop!!

With a pure wish that no one else suffers for him, the pure green avatar was generated with one point in mind alone: to stop all suffering of others.

Personality:

Having lived a humble existence to say the least, Tatesuke is a hard worker and sometimes does volunteer work, often urging his friends to think for others and help them out in times of need. His mere presence is often enough to break up scuffles and fights, and for this he is both liked and hated. It suits him in such times that he does not have to physically intervene; inside, he is reminded slightly of his parent's own quarrels, and having seen the depths of abuse, he is reluctant to inflict pain upon others.

Many times, he has been asked to be the Class President, or other positions of power, and each and every time he has declined, content to instead manage less responsible matters. To him, being in power invokes the negative image of his father hitting his mother, and he subconsciously shies away from that.

His aim is to enlist in the military and be able to provide a good living for himself and a future wife - an unconscious manifestation of his wish to have had a better upbringing. An incarnation of having the strength to confront his fear of his father, yet not facing the elder Ichijou directly.

Point of Distinction:

Hitting 1.78m in height, Tatesuke is quite tall and strong for his age owing to his intense physical training. Though unskilled in fighting and lacking in experience, it is natural that no bully would want to confront someone of Tatesuke's height and build.

Brain Burst Avatar: Green Guardian

Explanation: Formed from Tatesuke's wish to stop suffering, the avatar is equipped a single large shield, usually held in his right hand. No other weapons nor hidden abilities are present on the avatar, save for a Sergeant Major rank on his left shoulder plate.

Apart from the sheer defensive power in Guardian's shield, not much else has been given to the avatar by default. Who knows? Perhaps there are more hidden powers awaiting their entrance...

Description: A system/designated motion for Green Guardian. Apart from locking an arm behind their back, it doesn't appear to do much...

Effect: The opponent's arm is locked in place by Guardian's fist. Escape is only possible if the opponent's AGI ranks equal or higher than Guardian's STR. It takes one post by the opponent to escape.

Weaknesses: Stay out of arm's reach, and you'll be fine, of course.

Killer Move

Name: Discharge

Cost: 50% (Active skill)

Description: Guardian's body is temporarily glows green for a moment, and releases an energy wave in all directions. The wave is non-physical, pure energy, and thus quickly dissipates beyond a boundary 3 metres wide around Guardian.

Effect: The opponent is damaged. "Blast back" is not possible.

Weaknesses: Requires one post to charge. Beyond 3 metres away from Guardian, the damage received by the opponent is zero.
