"Oooooooh...oh that's the present I was kind of expecting some kind of toy," Hero muttered glumly as he examined the sword he had equipped, "This is a funny looking sword though, maybe it really is a toy for dual avatars..."

However the sounds of battle and some avatar running past him, back the way that Hero had come snapped him out of the trance he had been in ever since he saw the presents, after all even if he may have been a kid in real life, in this world, the Accelerated World, he was the Dual Avatar Teal Hero and where there was battle their was no doubt evil to be found!

However, first things are first! Something which had been bugging Hero ever since he had obtained his present, the Jetstream Blade. Their seemed to be some strange button on the hilt which...quite frankly a sword shouldn't have had, even one that looked as weird as this one.

"Hey, I wonder what this does...?"

[Royal Duke]

Damson Incinerator's attack is like the flames of purgatory. Unrelenting, the stream of flames consumes everything in its way like a natural disaster. The stone surface shines red as it makes its way to the Enemy ahead of him-!

-"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

The Yule Goat emits a cry of pure, unsupressed pain for the first time in the entire battle. However, even that much won't do to kill him.

At the same time...

The moment the trigger is pulled, Teal Hero feels a sudden pull as his feet leave the ground. Everything around him becomes a blur as he speeds and speeds and-!

*CRUNCH*

A strange sound.

A red liquid drips straight from the Enemy's throat.

A hand grips Teal Hero's hand, who is weakly removed away from his body. He falls on his knees. This is it. The battle is over.

Or so they wish.



The Enemy raises, with only a single Health Gauge left. The empty holes of the goat skull that were once its eyes shine red as he jumps-!

"▂▂▃▃▄▅!"

Emitting a sound that no sane human being could produce, he descends upon the helpless Teal Hero with enough force to crack his skull open with a single blow-!

-"Huh? Don't tell me... It actually worked!?"

A deep blue coloured Duel Avatar's fist was the only thing that stood between Teal Hero's body and the oversized staff carried by the now enraged Enemy. Appearance wise, he did not stand out much. Yet at the same time, hidden beneath his slim body lied muscles whose strength had been enough to stop the attack on their own.

The Burst Linker spared a few seconds during their struggle to look to his left and right, apparently assessing the situation...

-"Oooh, so that's how it was possible.

Yosh. In that case, that's more of a reason to go full throttle-!"

Without the slightest trace of fear, the blue coloured Duel Avatar grabs a hold of the leftovers of the burnt armor of the Yule Goat, and twisting his body...

Tosses him like a ragdoll across the hallway, and into the inner garden Gadget was just praying at.

-"Hey, kid. -Speaks out a youth's voice through the blue Duel Avatar's mask- Even though that was... Well, kind of stupid, I've got kind of a soft spot for reckless idiots. So... Wanna team up and kick that moron's ass for good?

I am Cove Fighter, vanguard of the Legion 'Reckless Fire'! What's your name, rookie?"

Even while he was standing up, retracting his anchors, Gunsou was still momentarily speechless.

And with that thought came an unmistakeable feeling of admiration and respect.

"I dunno about the others here, I only just joined." Gunsou looks around at the scattered avatars, recovering from their attacks.

"But I guess..."

He holds out his blue-green fist to Cove Fighter to bump.

"We can call an alliance for now."

Gadget's prayer was interrupted when he heard a massive crash.

Out of the hallway at the entrance to the courtyard an extremely crispy Yule Goat was face down in the snow. Someone had dealt a massive amount of damage to him enough to daze the opponent for a few seconds.

Gadget blinked in surprise then he turned defensive. The boss had taken quite a bit of damage and would most likely rage on the first person it saw. Gadget decided to move his 'gifts' and himself to behind the tree where he could take a watchful eye but have something blocking Yule Goat's direct vision. Gadget wondered what type of power did something like this and if it was more dangerous then Yule Goat

Coooooooooooooooooool! So that's what it does! I wonder if I could FLY with this thing...ah wait no, it's got some kind of...bar that's refilling...boooo...oh oh, I wonder if I could...

However before Hero could lose his train of thought once again, having not really paid attention to what had just happened, his savior spoke up.

"Hey, kid. -Speaks out a youth's voice through the blue Duel Avatar's mask- Even though that was... Well, kind of stupid, I've got kind of a soft spot for reckless idiots. So... Wanna team up and kick that moron's ass for good?

"Hey, I'm not an idiot! I just...didn't think that would happen...Still you saved me so it's a hero's duty to repay a debt both to my friends and to that thing that nearly squashed me! Now let's go and bring some JUSTICE on that vil-villa-villlll....BAD GUY!" shouted Teal Hero, accepting Cove's offer with great enthusiasm and...charging forwards!? What the hell was that idiot doing!?

Yep, that's right, Hero got so into the zone with his own speech that he's now charging towards where the Goat had been thrown, Jetstream Blade in his hand, ready to take down the VILLIANOUS CUR one last time! And...was he really just doing a battle cry!?

"UWOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

Eternity Moment looked at the chaos around her, and sighed. She'd been late to the party due to a slight mishap with her Neurolinker, and now she had missed a potential chance to gain more information on random Burst Linkers. Well, that didn't matter.

There were presents that were ripe for the taking.

Calmly striding by with the occasional aside glance to see if whatever the other Linkers were fighting was targeting her, she went and grabbed a present and tried to shake it open.

Not like they needed her help—there were so many people, she'd be surprised if it didn't end soon. Guess there was an advantage to being late, after all, other than fashion.

"Hmm with this Cove Fighter guy here I think we can finish this up fairly easy," Madras Horror though. Seeing Teal Hero saved like that was almost enough to even make Madras Horror want to be a team player... almost. Seeing Teal Hero charge recklessly at Yule Goat when just moments beforehand he had been about to be killed though made him figure it was at least worth seeing what would happen since no matter what the outcome it was bound to be hilarious. "Well then lets go see where our friend the goat has ended up," Madras Horror said to himself as he followed after Teal Hero.

Seeing that the fight was leaving the room, Damson felt a bit sad that his AOE wasn't going to have much more use. He stared at it burn in it's circle of flames for a bit. His hand unconsciously went to his face, now fully realizing that part of the outer mask was missing, revealing a smooth, soft expressioned face that was still a mask. An awkward feeling came onto him, and he just shook his head trying to get rid of it. He focused back on the fight and noticed that it had left the present room and out somewhere in the hallway. He then began to run to the fight, reloading his weapon as he went. The 16 teeth began lightly glowing again.

Shadow managed to escape to the back nefore Damson's KM hit Yule Goat. As of right now, he's reloading his gun when someone comes in an literally throw Yule Goat away with ease. While everyone seems to be shocked, Shadow remain calm. In his mind, such feats are normal. What piqued his interest, however, is the difference in power that had happened between him, a veteran, and Cove Fighter, who's status is unknown. Such feat can only be accomplished by someone ariund lvl 3 to 5

Guess it'll be almost impossible to return to our past glory

While Shadow wanted to attack, his gun is still empty and he's in the middle of reloading his gu , holding him back from going to the front line

Turquoise Protector and Cove Fighter's fists bumped, letting out small sparks, as proof of their new alliance. Cove Fighter nodded solemnly.

-"Ou. Nice to meet you, too. Let's do our be- OH CRAP LET'S GOOO!"

Seeing how Teal Hero was going to rush out on his own, Cove Fighter forgot about self-introductions and ran behind after him.

-"HEROOOO!"

Teal Hero recklessly charged forward before their eyes, crying from the top of his lungs, trying to finish this once and for all. But.

The effects of Madras Horror's Killer Move had been lessened inadvertedly, due to Cove Fighter's actions. And now...

-"LIKE HELL I'LL LET A NEWBIE DIE HERE!"

The staff collided against Cove Fighter's arms crossed over his chest, which despite being thin in comparison to most melee fighters, withstood directly an attack that would have destroyed a lesser Duel Avatar. Going down on one knee as the staff keeps on descending in an attempt to crush him, he doesn't show the silghtest sign of worry.

-"At times like this... Is when... You just gotta... BELIEVE!"

Only a single, strong inhaling motion is needed in this situation.

So he can accumulate energy for his next action-!

-"ORYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Using all the explosive strength his arms and legs could muster, he breaks through the opponent's attack, sending him flying backwards a few metres. The Yule Goat stares back at them. No damage has been inflicted on him yet, but...

For the first time in its short life, someone has withstood directly a blow from him without significant damage.

-"Phew. That was a close call, wasn't it? Allright! Teal Hero! Turquoise Protector! I'll take care of blocking his blows so he has no chance to attack! You two just give him the pounding of his life!"

Adopting a defensive stance with both his fists raised above his head, he charges forwards towards the Yule Goat, without giving him a second worth of rest. Meeting his swift horizontal attack, intending to take out any who approached him, his left elbow thrust at full speed, meeting brute strength with even greater force.

-"ATTACK! NOW!"

Somewhere else...

Eternity Moment opens up her present. It's an Enhanced Armament card, which promptly automatically equips itself.

It appears to be some sort of handgun, shining with the same colour as its wielder. It's name, etched into its frame, is: 'Time Piercer'.

It seems to have a fair bit of history...

'Time Piercer': +30 DIR worth of damage. Its ability, which has a 2 turns cooldown, enables one to shoot into the future. The bullet's is sent somewhere into the future, and will strike at a specific time within the next 10 seconds in a specific place.

Violet Repulse would be in the corridor's looking for a door that leaded into the courtyard, he found it, but was surprised that the fight had not moved to that spot yet.

"Tch, guess it was a bad idea to try that." Repulse thought to himself as he walked back to the Present Room and noticed 4 new Duel Avatars, being shocked, he went up to the closest Duel Avatar that had the dark yellow shade, and introduced himself.

"Hey, I'm Violet Repulse, wanna team up for a bit with everyone else and possibly join up with Regimental Samurai's Clan? After this Raid Boss-like event is over that is?" Repulse would ask gently to her, after finishing his question to the new Duel Avatar, he looked around to actually know what just happened.

"That Yule Goat is down to 1 HP Bar?? Who......" He looked at the Teal Duel Avatar with a miniature blade in hand, covered in blood and realized that the Yule Goat's eyes were missing. "Son of a.......that lucky Avatar!" Repulse thought jealously to himself, extremely surprised that somebody could get that lucky as to doing that much with a single lucky strike.

After realizing what transpired, Repulse refocused his attention to the Dark-Yellow Avatar, awaiting her respond, while at the same time, in battle stance just in case that the Blind Goat would come their way.

"Sorry to say, I'm rather disinterested. Pitch to someone else." Eternity Moment was more preoccupied about the monster that could attack them at any moment than any sort of pitch. If it wasn't with her Parent, it wasn't worth joining. She cautiously examined the gun she now held, wondering how she could best make use of it for future battles. It made a handy feint, she supposed.

Sighing, she eyed Violet Repulse, awaiting for his probably very dull response.

"Double Taser!" Gadget called out as he slid out from behind the tree. Quickly draining what KG he had (1KG) He fired two hands of taser darts aiming for an exposed part of Yule Goat's flesh and got ready for a pulling reaction in which Gadget would trigger his hands to release into their Gadget forms and use the taser wires like some sort of binding.

Finished reloading his gun, Shadow let himself fall and dives into the ground, soundlessly moving to Yule Goat's back. One arm with a gun being held by it sticks out from Yule Goat's back as he deactivates his ability. The arm bends, making the gun pointed straight to Yule Goat's neck. Yes, he's doing the same trick as before, 6 point blank shots to the neck

Turquoise Protector looked at Fighter with pure admiration. With that kind of power...Cove Fighter wasn't just a strong player. He was on some level far beyond their reach...or was it? That action was reminiscent of an old anime show, of a certain dual-wielding main character...

Leaving the thinking to later, Gunsou ran forward, taking large strides to make up for his fairly slow running speed, and closed up to the Enemy - Yule Goat, he notes.

With insufficient KG to use his Killer Move, he can't use that palmstrike which was so effective on his Parent's Enhanced Armament; he'll have to punch and kick with his own strength. Drawing back his fist--

"HYAAH!"

Turning his body, Gunsou throws his first punch, keeping his feet on the floor!

Truly with those words, Hero knew that he and Cove Fighter with kindred souls! Only someone with a burning soul such as he could utter those words! Indeed, and he was giving his all as well in this fight! Hero couldn't let himself be outclassed like this, indeed it was time for...HENSHIN!

"Phew. That was a close call, wasn't it? Allright! Teal Hero! Turquoise Protector! I'll take care of blocking his blows so he has no chance to attack! You two just give him the pounding of his life!"

"It's time to show this bad guy the true power of justice! HERO MODE!"

With that a flash of blinding, teal light engulfed Teal Hero and once it had died down, there where stood the puny excuse for a blue/green avatar now stood an armored figure, his body was the same as before, yet anyone who looked at him could tell their was something more to it than the armor. Indeed, it was though a simple costume changed had allowed Hero access to his true power, a power that brought forth JUSTICE.

"ATTACK! NOW!"

"Got it!"

Straight after that reply, Hero jumped up into the air, grasping the jetstream blade and pointing it at the Yule Goat. Now that he knew how the blade worked, he knew just how he would use it. Clicking the button, he hurtled forward towards the enemy and...

"NOW FEEL THE POWER OF JUSTICE AND BE STRUCK DOWN ENEMY OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, JUSTICE....PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!"

With that final outburst, armoured engulfed Teal Hero's free hand, that was now clenched into a fist. The flames engulfing it grew larger and larger as Hero closed in on his target until he finally reach and and threw the PUNCH OF JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSTICE at the villainous cur!

-"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

First, many tasers snuck from behind, inmobilizing their opponent. Then six bullets were lodged right into the neck of the Enemy.

However, not even that amount of punishment would bring it down. Still managining to stand in one leg...

It managed to see the bringers of his doom.

"HYAAH!"

"NOW FEEL THE POWER OF JUSTICE AND BE STRUCK DOWN ENEMY OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, JUSTICE....PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!"

-"LET'S FINISH THIS! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Their fists crashed together, in spectacular synchrony, against the face of the Enemy. No. It was as if their very souls had opposed the despair embodied by that monster, refusing to acknowledge the outcome of being defeated, and turning it into a magnificient victory-!

His helmet showed a small crack, which soon soundlessly expanded across his entire helmet. Simultaneously, his Health Gauge, the last one, rapidly went down from 60% to...

1%.

-"I see. So that's how strong you bunch are, huh."

A simple, nonchalant comment is the last thing the Enemy utters under his breath before his Health Gauge dropped to zero. However, instead of turning into particles of light and vanishing...

They refilled.

-"It was amusing to fight you all. But, as you are, mercilessly crushing you won't give me any sort of amusement. That's why, I will let you keep your presents, with a single condition.

Next year, I don't want to have to hold back anymore. Show me your true spirit as Burst Linkers."

With those cryptic words, the hulking barbarian took a leap into the sky, and left, carried into the skies by his war chariot pulled by mooses one could only believe belonged in the wilderness of the darkest of forests of Europe.

There was one last thing left behind.

A lone Enhanced Armament card where it had stood. It displayed a picture of a single blue rose. It's name was. appropiately 'Blue Rose'.

"Ho! So the bad guy wasn't so bad after all! That's pretty cool too!" Hero said, clenching his fist, standing proudly where he had landed after his attack had connected with the enemy. Then his attention shifted to the floating...card(?) that had been left where his enemy had stood...

"Oooooooooo, what's this, what's this, I wanna see" Hero called out, curiosity filled his voice as his hand innocently reached out to the card, eager to see what was it exactly that had been left behind.

[BLUE ROSE OWNERSHIP TRANSFERRED TO TEAL HERO]

With those words, the Brain Burst Event was finally over.

'Blue Rose' - An Enhanced Armament that was once the garment of a legendary blade wielded by a pair of heroes. It can be used to lower an opponent's speed within ten metres radius by -40 AGI by encasing him in ice. Cooldown of one turn.

Well, I'm impressed. Everyone survived and got their stuff, so I guess that's pretty much good.

With so many avatars near the «Enemy», «Samurai» had decided that it would be best to stand in reserve. But with the arrival of «Cove Fighter», he felt that he wouldn't be needed after all. In less than a minute after his arrive, he had already gotten «Yule Goat» down to the last bar in his «Health Gauge» and had rallied together a few of the others that were near him. Since katana were more dangerous than fists, he decided to sit the last charge out.

YOU WIN!

It was amusing to fight you all. But, as you are, mercilessly crushing you won't give me any sort of amusement. That's why, I will let you keep your presents, with a single condition. Samurai only watched as he took off into the sky in his moose-pulled chariot. I see. Looks like he'll be back. He glances back to the group of avatars that had dealt the final blows. He sees the «Enhanced Armament Card» and walks up to the group. So who's getting «Blue Rose»? I will hold no claim to it since I barely did anything. However, he spoke to late. «Teal Hero» had already grabbed it.

Gadget hummed as he watched Yule Goat take off. He picked up his gift then gave a slight smile. "I'll make sure these gifts get put to good use and I'll be ready for you Yule Goat maybe next time you'll see my true power." He gave a smile to the others "Merry Christmas Guys, see ya around." He equipped his boots and reclaimed his gift of burst points and logged out

Grind: Gadget can now grind on the edge of things (Rails, pipes, building ledges, etc) like he was on a skateboard using his shoes.

Gunsou glanced at the beautiful blue-green shield on his left forearm, the new Enhanced Armament «The Liberator». He looked around; Cove Fighter seemed to have left the Event, and the blue avatar next to him, Teal Hero, was admiring his new Enhanced Armament.

He closed his eyes in satisfaction.

"--no one died here today."

With that, he logged out of the Event, finally at peace that he had indeed managed to obtain something useful.

At last, the fight comes to an end. Shadow twirls his new gun around, enjoying his new EA. He was quite happy with it, even though he didn't get the Blue Rose. However, Yule Goat's words echos in his mind

That was the words left behind by Yule Goat. This means every combatants here are eligible target next year. What's more, their victory is not attained through their efforts alone. They're helped by Cove Fighter, the mysterious DA that suddenly appears and seems to be friendly. This just proves they're really weak. Also, in some culture, blue rose are traditionally associated with royal blood and thus the blue rose can also denote regal majesty and splendor.

Things might be more complicated than I've thought. I have to check about the legend of Yule Goat

He was shocked. How could've a mere NPC aware of their existence as a Burst Linker? Things really seems more complicated than he though, but he choose to shut up for now and walks towards exit. As he pass through Teal Hero, without even looking he whispered

With this said, Shadow vanishes into the darkness of the night in this Christmas night

Damson had entered the scene just as Yule was giving his praise to them. Then he suddenly dissapeared into the sky, on that odd thing pulled by moose. Feeling relieved, he took another look at his Gulf Saw. It spun fast when he wanted it to, and stopped when he wanted it.

"Hmm. At least it seems like I won't be completely pwned in CQC. " He slashed it infront of him 3 times, from different angles. An odd satisfaction came over his as he felt the air was sliced. He looked at his other hand, at his original EA, Flame Waker. The weapon created from his feelings by the system, as /she/ had explained. He looks down, and mumbles in a low voice.

"That's right....that..../thing/ is going to be happening within a couple days..."

Feelings being mixed inside of him, Damson suddenly unequipped both EAs and wanders over to the tree. He looks up at it for a moment, then manipulates the system and logs out. Anyone could have been talking to him during that, but he wouldn't have heard it anyway.

Heh, I guess the battle was over before we even got to have some real fun then....btw I never got your name. Repulse would say to the Dark-Yellow Avatar, 


But hey, if you're disinterested now, why don't we duel sometime, have a little fun I guess, I'm down to have fun before I go on a Spree for Burst Points. Repulse would say to the Dark-Yellow Avatar as the words [YOU WIN] pop up on his HUD.

And honestly, I get it, everybody's trauma makes them feel I guess, uneasy towards other people, but we're all Burst Linkers, it's something we all have in common.....maybe one day we can all....I guess be friends. Repulse would say with a mix of voices, (from sad to happy to hopeful) as he turned around and began walking in the opposite direction.

Repulse would say somewhat Cheerfully as he walked to Regimental Samurai and noticing that Teal Hero managed to get rid of the giant goat, thus picking up another EA Card. Note to self......never fuck with Teal Hero, and defeat him as soon as you can..... Repulse would think to himself almost fearing Teal Hero's locked potential.
